Los Angeles-based pianist Timothy Durkovic is a distinguished soloist and chamber musician, renowned for his collaborations with some of the world’s most acclaimed instrumentalists and vocalists. His esteemed partners have included legendary cellist Lynn Harrell, violinist Martin Chalifour, violinist Andrew Sords, violist Helen Callus, and renowned ensembles such as the Calder Quartet, the Miró Quartet, and the Casal Quartet, among many others.

A virtuoso in every sense, Mr. Durkovic is the Grand Prize Winner of the 1996 Los Angeles Liszt Competition and has claimed top honors at prestigious competitions including the Beverly Hills Auditions, the Carmel Music Society Competition, the 2001 San Diego Duo Piano Competition, and the IBLA Grand Prize Duo Award in Sicily, Italy, where he performed alongside his duo partner Chie Nagatani. He is also the recipient of the coveted Outstanding Master’s Graduate Award from the USC Thornton School of Music.

Throughout his career, Durkovic has been a passionate educator, having served as the Director of Keyboard Studies at Long Beach City College and as a faculty member at the University of La Verne, the USC Thornton School of Music, and the Orange County High School of the Arts. He has also performed regularly as part of the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra.

Mr. Durkovic’s artistry has taken him to renowned chamber music festivals around the globe, including the High Desert Chamber Music Festival in Bend, Oregon, Festival BRAVISSIMO in Guatemala, and ProMusica in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. His exceptional performances have also garnered him international recognition as a headline entertainer on prestigious cruise lines such as Crystal Cruises, Regent Cruises, and Hapag-Lloyd Cruises.

Critics have lauded Durkovic’s playing for its exceptional sensitivity and expressive depth, with the Salt Lake City Tribune describing his sound as one of “great sensitivity to colors” and Frederick Swann praising his performances as “effortless, with the music always in the forefront—an overall effect of music making that is too rarely heard.” His CD recording Gargoyles has been met with widespread acclaim, with composer Lowell Lieberman praising the disc as “an incisive and exciting performance.”

In addition to his musical pursuits, Mr. Durkovic has made notable contributions to the commercial world, having performed and arranged music for high-profile advertising campaigns, including work for Christina Aguilera and Dignity Health.

Born and raised in Guatemala, Timothy Durkovic honed his craft at the National Conservatory of Guatemala, the Juilliard School, Salem College, and the USC Thornton School of Music.
